Struggling to meet the needs of the Parish with its 225-seat church, St. Bernard Parish turned to SDG for a solution.
SDG studied both the possibility of expanding the existing church - made difficult by its load-bearing limestone walls - or constructing a new church on the 5.5-acre campus. Following the study, Parish leadership decided to relocate the Parish to a new 15-acre site.
SDG created the master plan for the new site and designed a new church to seat 500, expandable to 650. The plan of the building recalls traditional longitudinal nave churches as well as the prairie gothic architecture of the Parish's previous church. Elements from the previous church, including stained glass windows, tabernacle, and stations of the cross, were incorporated into the new church.
